Each and every time the Eastern Lightning is mentioned, many brothers and sisters in the Lord feel perplexed: Why is it that as the religious community as a whole becomes increasingly desolate and degenerate, as each denomination becomes increasingly guarded and conservative in condemning and banishing the Eastern Lightning, not only is the Eastern Lightning not becoming desolate and ebbing, but surging like unstoppable billows, sweeping across mainland China? Now that it has even expanded beyond China’s borders to foreign countries and regions, as it is being accepted by more and more people worldwide? Faced with this fact, the religious people are thoroughly puzzled, while in fact the reason is quite simple: What each religious sect calls the Eastern Lightning is the returned Savior Jesus of the last days, riding down from the heavens upon a “white cloud”; it is God Himself who has returned to flesh and is real and actual! What Almighty God Christ of the last days brings is the judgment work that changes man’s disposition and cleanses him, so that mankind may achieve salvation and be perfected. Almighty God issues forth with all the truths that cleanse, save, and perfect mankind. For this reason, even if every religious sect in the entire world resists, attacks, persecutes, blasphemes, or condemns God incarnate of the last days or His work, there is no one and no force that can ever obstruct or suppress what He wishes to achieve. God’s authority, power, and His almightiness and wisdom are unsurpassable by any force of Satan.

Many people believe that anything condemned by most people can’t be the true way, but does this viewpoint accord with the truth? Think back to the Age of Grace when God came in the flesh to begin His new work in Judea. From start to finish He was persecuted, blasphemed, and condemned by the Jewish religious community. They did everything they could to put the Lord Jesus to death. In the end, they colluded with Rome to have the Lord Jesus captured and they nailed the merciful Lord Jesus to the cross. Even upon the resurrection and ascension to heaven of the Lord Jesus, they still fabricated all sorts of rumors and framed and slandered against John, Paul, and the other apostles and disciples, calling them “the Sect of the Nazarenes” and “heretics and cultists.” The Jewish religious community did everything possible to hunt down and persecute the disciples of the Lord Jesus. But God’s wisdom always exploits and builds upon the tricks of Satan; how could His work be obstructed or destroyed by Satan? It is because of the Roman Empire’s wanton persecution and expulsion that the disciples were compelled to flee to various countries and so too did the salvation of the Lord Jesus spread far and wide and to the ends of the earth. Brothers and sisters let us consider: Why did so many people resist the Lord Jesus and oppose His way back then? Could it be because the Lord Jesus wasn’t bringing the true way? Could it be because what the disciples and apostles of the Lord Jesus of that time were spreading wasn’t God’s salvation? Could it be that what the people abandoned and resisted wasn’t God’s way? Surely we can’t weigh the true way based on how many people endorse it? Do not consider something as the false way because the majority of people oppose it. As long as it is God’s work, even if the entire world opposes it and forsakes it, the true way brought by God cannot be denied; there are no exceptions. If we believe in God and have followed Him for many years yet do not understand God’s work, it is easy for us to be deceived and bound by the various specious fallacies and rumors spread around by Satan. To turn from a believer into a follower of Satan, to serve God but also resist Him, doesn’t this just bring grief and sorrow to a person? Many people do not study the true way with a humble and searching heart, they just follow the herd and do what everyone else does. No matter how other people judge or attack God and His work, they merely parrot those same words and follow blindly. This is a very dangerous thing. If they persist in this way they will ultimately find themselves on a path of no return. Long ago, when the disciples of the Lord Jesus preached the gospel at the temple and were met with opposition from the masses, a man called Gamaliel, a teacher of the law, admonished the Jewish people, “And now I say to you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nothing: But if it be of God, you cannot overthrow it; lest haply you be found even to fight against God” (Act 5:38-39). Shouldn’t this also serve as a warning to today’s believers? Now, in these last days, God has once again become flesh in China—a nation where atheists and revolutionaries wield power and the very nest of the great red dragon—to begin His judgment work that begins from His house. God issues forth truths to judge and cleanse mankind, the purpose being to save man completely from the dark influence of Satan. In the end, they will be brought into His kingdom by God and gain a beautiful destination. However, the historical tragedy of Jewish resistance to the Lord Jesus has once again appeared on the stage. As God does His new work of the last days that strikes back against the notions of people from the various religious sects, these people do not welcome the return of the Lord Jesus. Instead, they spread all manner of twisted teachings and fallacious rumors. They slander God incarnate and His work, condemning the work of God incarnate of the last days as an “evil cult” or “heresy.” They even go so far as to collude with the Chinese Communist government to persecute and arrest God incarnate. Their deeds are no different than those of the Jewish religious community that once framed and persecuted the Lord Jesus. Nonetheless, the true way is, after all, the true way. God’s work, after all, is God’s work. Regardless of how the various religious sects resist and condemn God’s work of the last days, the good tidings of His kingdom have nonetheless spread throughout mainland China, shaking the religious community and the entire world to the very core.

Cheng Huize is a co-worker at a house church in China. She has believed in the Lord for many years, and has worked for the Lord with unwavering enthusiasm. She takes on a lot of responsibilities for the church, and she has compassion for her brothers and sisters. Even though the pastor and elders were all harboring secrets in their hearts, locked in constant strife for their own fame and profit, fighting out of envy, when they saw that most of the good sheep and leading sheep in the church had investigated the Eastern Lightning and turned to Almighty God one by one, they joined together with the Chinese Communist government and fought to repress the Eastern Lightning, blocking the believers from coming to study the Eastern Lightning, urging the followers to report them to the police. They set an example by reporting and arresting the brothers and sisters preaching the kingdom gospel. Cheng Huize and others saw that the pastor and the elders had deviated from the Lord's way a long time ago, and the church had already lost the work of the Holy Spirit and had degenerated into a religious place like Babylon the Great, cursed and reviled by the Lord. Because of this, they decided to investigate the Eastern Lightning to search for the manifestation and work of God. After intense debates with the preachers from the Church of Almighty God, Cheng Huize and the others finally began to see clearly that the leaders of the religious world opposed God in substance, and the reason why the religious world declined, day by day drawing nearer to its destruction: The pastors and elders of the religious world, although they could explain the Bible and hold the Bible in high esteem, they only do so for status and livelihood. They are confusing and ensnaring people. They don't hold God in high regard or bear witness for Him, they don't understand God at all. In the last days, when the incarnate Almighty God appears and does His work, they oppose Him without the slightest scruple, they condemn God's work, even to the point where they unite with the Chinese Communist government to arrest believers. This is enough to prove that they possess a satanic nature that hates the truth and hates God. They are modern-day Pharisees, impersonating virtuous people, antichrists who deny that God becomes flesh. The religious world has already completely become a stronghold for antichrists who are enemies of God. They will absolutely meet with God's curses and punishments. The Origin and Development of the Church of Almighty God

In the Age of Grace, the Lord Jesus promised to His followers, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3). He also prophesied, “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Matthew 24:27). In the last days, as promised and foretold by Himself, God has again become flesh and descended to the East of the world—China—to do the work of judgment, chastisement, conquest, and salvation using the word, on the foundation of the redemption work of the Lord Jesus. In this, the prophecies of the Bible that “Judgment begins with the house of God” and “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches!” have also been fulfilled. God’s work of the last days has ended the Age of Grace and ushered in the Age of Kingdom. As the gospel of the kingdom of Almighty God spread rapidly in Mainland China, the Church of Almighty God came into being. As proven by facts, the Church of Almighty God came into being entirely as a result of God’s work of the last days, and was not established by any man. This is because the chosen people in the Church of Almighty God pray in the name of Almighty God, obey His work, and accept all the truths expressed by Him. I Questions and Answers About the Church Desolation

Question 1: For years, we feel an emptiness in our church. We’ve lost the faith and love we had at the start, and become weaker and negative. The preachers sometimes feel lost and don’t know what to talk about. We feel we’ve lost the work of the Holy Spirit. We’ve looked everywhere for a church with the Holy Spirit’s work, but every church we see is as desolate as our own. Why are so many churches hungry and desolate?

Answer: The question you’ve asked is an important one. We all know that we live in the late period of the last days. The Lord Jesus once prophesied, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold” (Matthew 24:12). Lawlessness in the world of religion is growing. Religious leaders don’t abide by the commandments. They abide by men’s traditions. They only preach biblical knowledge to show off and testify themselves. They don’t testify or exalt God at all. They’ve completely departed from the Lord’s way, which is why God rejects and eliminates them. This is mainly why the religious world has lost the work of the Holy Spirit. But also, it’s because the Lord Jesus has returned to flesh, and begun the work of “judgment beginning with the house of God.” When Christ of the last days—Almighty God expresses the truth of saving man to purify all who accept God’s work of the last days, the work of the Holy Spirit will turn to God’s work of the last days. Those who accept Almighty God’s work of judgment in the last days will receive the work of the Holy Spirit, and receive the living water of life that quenches their thirst. God will make those who return before His throne overcomers, and bring them into accordance with His will. While those who remain in religion and refuse to accept God’s work of the last days will be left in dark desolation. This proves a prophecy in the Bible, “And also I have withheld the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain on one city, and caused it not to rain on another city: one piece was rained on, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered. So two or three cities wandered to one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have you not returned to me, said the LORD” (Amos 4:7-8). Here, “one piece was rained on” refers to churches who accept and obey God’s work of judgment in the last days. They have accepted the present words of God, and so enjoyed provision of the living water of life that flows from the throne. “… and the piece whereupon it rained not withered” refers to the religious pastors and elders who refuse to practice the Lord’s words and disobey His commandments, and reject, resist, and condemn Almighty God’s work of the last days, which leads the religious world to be rejected and cursed by God, to lose completely the work of the Holy Spirit and access to the living water of life, and become trapped in desolation. Just like at the end of the Age of Law, when the temple, once so full of Jehovah’s glory, became desolate, the Jewish people didn’t hold to religious laws. They made improper sacrifices, and the temple became a place of trade, a den of thieves. Why did this happen? Primarily because the Jewish religious leaders didn’t abide by Jehovah’s laws and didn’t fear God in their hearts. They abided by men’s traditions, but rejected God’s commandments. They departed completely from the way of God and so lost the work of the Holy Spirit. And another reason was that God had been incarnated to do the work of redeeming mankind in the Age of Grace. God’s work had changed. All those who accepted the Lord Jesus’ redemptive work received the work of the Holy Spirit, and had a new way to practice, but those who rejected and resisted the work of the Lord Jesus were eliminated by God’s work and fell into dark desolation. If you want to receive the work of the Holy Spirit and gain provision of the living water of life, the most important thing you have to do is seek and investigate Almighty God’s work of the last days. That will solve the darkness in your spirits and the desolation in your church at the root of the problem. Don’t you think so?

Sister Su continued, “Okay. We’ll understand more after reading a few passages of Almighty God’s words. Almighty God says, ‘At the time Jesus’ work was the redemption of all mankind. The sins of all who believed in Him were forgiven; as long as you believed in Him, He would redeem you; if you believed in Him, you were no longer a sinner, you were relieved of your sins. This is what it meant to be saved, and to be justified by faith. Yet in those who believed, there remained that which was rebellious and opposed God, and which still had to be slowly removed. Salvation did not mean man had been completely gained by Jesus, but that man was no longer of sin, that he had been forgiven his sins: Provided you believed, you would never more be of sin’ (“The Vision of God’s Work (2)” in The Word Appears in the Flesh).
‘Man was … forgiven his sins, but the work for just how the corrupt satanic dispositions within man could be cast away was not done in him. Man was only saved and forgiven his sins for his faith, but the sinful nature of man was not taken away and still remained within him. The sins of man were forgiven through God incarnate, but it does not mean that man has no sin within him. The sins of man could be forgiven through the sin offering, but man has been unable to resolve the issue of just how he can no longer sin and how his sinful nature can be cast away completely and be transformed. The sins of man were forgiven because of the work of God’s crucifixion, but man continued to live in the old, corrupt satanic disposition. As such, man must be completely saved from the corrupt satanic disposition so that the sinful nature of man is completely cast away and never again develops, thus allowing the disposition of man to be changed. This requires man to understand the path of growth in life, the way of life, and the way to change his disposition. It also needs man to act in accordance with this path so that the disposition of man can gradually be changed and he can live under the shining of the light, and that he can do all things in accord with the will of God, cast away the corrupt satanic disposition, and break free from Satan’s influence of darkness, thereby emerging fully from sin. Only then will man receive complete salvation’ (“The Mystery of the Incarnation (4)” in The Word Appears in the Flesh).
‘Though Jesus did much work among man, He only completed the redemption of all mankind and became man’s sin offering, and did not rid man of all his corrupt disposition. Fully saving man from the influence of Satan not only required Jesus to take on the sins of man as the sin offering, but also required God to do greater work to completely rid man of his disposition, which has been corrupted by Satan. And so, after man was forgiven his sins, God has returned to flesh to lead man into the new age, and begun the work of chastisement and judgment, and this work has brought man into a higher realm. All those who submit under His dominion shall enjoy higher truth and receive greater blessings. They shall truly live in the light, and shall gain the truth, the way, and the life’ (Preface to The Word Appears in the Flesh).

From Almighty God’s words, we know that if man holds on to merely the work of redemption God did in the Age of Grace, but refuses to accept God’s work of judgment in the last days, the root of his sin and his satanic nature will not be resolved. In the last days, Almighty God has come and done a stage of work of judging and purifying man on the basis of the redemptive work. By expressing the truth, He has revealed the true face of man’s corruption and judged man’s satanic nature, so that man’s sinful nature can be thoroughly resolved, his satanic disposition can be changed, and he will be completely free from Satan’s influence and saved by God. So, Almighty God’s work of judgment in the last days is the most crucial and fundamental work to save man and perfect man. Only when we accept it can we have a true knowledge of the substance of our corruption and God’s disposition, utterly break away from Satan’s influence, change our life disposition, and finally become ones who obey God, worship God and are compatible with God.”

Such fellowship left me enlightened inside and solved the questions puzzling me for a long time. It turned out that God only did the work of forgiveness in the Age of Grace and did not do the work of casting off man’s corrupt satanic disposition, while the work of judgment done by God incarnate in the last days through expressing the truth is that which completely purifies man and saves man. But then, how does God cleanse and change man to make him be fully saved? I was anxious to get the answer. I couldn’t wait to ask, “I understand what you fellowshiped. Man can only be purified when the Lord comes to do a stage of work of judgment, which I’ve long expected. Now I’m eager to know how Almighty God does the work of judgment to cleanse and save man.

Sister Su said, “That question is of great importance to everyone who wants to get changed and cleansed. Almighty God’s words have put it very clearly. Let me send them to you through Skype. You may read them, brother!”

I read Almighty God’s words excitedly, “In the last days, Christ uses a variety of truths to teach man, reveal the essence of man, and dissect his words and deeds. These words comprise various truths, such as man’s duty, how man should obey God, how man should be loyal to God, how man ought to live out the normal humanity, as well as the wisdom and disposition of God, and so on. These words are all focused on the essence of man and his corrupt disposition. In particular, those words that reveal how man spurns God are spoken in regards to how man is an embodiment of Satan and an enemy force against God. When God does the work of judgment, He does not simply make clear the nature of man with just a few words, but carries out revelation, dealing, and pruning over the long term. Such manner of revelation, dealing, and pruning cannot be substituted with ordinary words but with the truth that man does not possess at all. Only such manner of work is deemed judgment; only through such judgment can man be persuaded, be thoroughly convinced into submission to God, and gain true knowledge of God. What the work of judgment brings about is man’s understanding of the true face of God and the truth about his rebelliousness. The work of judgment allows man to gain much understanding of the will of God, of the purpose of God’s work, and of the mysteries that could not be understood by man. It also allows man to recognize and know his corrupt substance and the roots of his corruption, as well as to discover the ugliness of man. These effects are all brought about by the work of judgment, for the substance of such work is actually the work of opening up the truth, way, and life of God to all those who have faith in Him. This work is the work of judgment done by God” (“Christ Does the Work of Judgment With the Truth” in The Word Appears in the Flesh).

Then Sister Su continued with her fellowship, “From Almighty God’s words, we see that in the last days, God judges and purifies man mainly through expressing the truth directed at man’s corrupt disposition and satanic nature of resistance to God. Almighty God has expressed a variety of truths, such as how Satan corrupts man, how God saves man, what is to follow man, what is to obey God, what viewpoint believers should hold, what offending God’s disposition means, the way to have one’s life disposition changed, and so on. These truths all carry authority and power, can supply man with life, and are the way of life for man to be cleansed and transformed. While reading Almighty God’s words, we sometimes feel God is as loving as a mother, amiable and adorable; sometimes we feel He is like a severe father. Especially when we read Almighty God’s words that judge, chastise, and reveal man, we feel they, like a double-edged sword, disclose our disobedience, corruption, resistance, wrong intentions, notions and imaginations. Moreover, they even disclose the unknown satanic poisons hidden deep within our hearts. We realize what we’ve lived out is the ugliness of Satan. For example, we’re arrogant and self-conceited, crooked and crafty, selfish and base, mercenary, and show no reverence for God at all; our actions and deeds, thoughts and ideas are also filthy, corrupt, and hideous. We feel so humiliated and ashamed, as if God were judging us face to face. We see God has appeared to us with His majestic, wrathful, righteous disposition, and realize that if we still live in such corrupt dispositions without any change, we’ll be doomed to be eliminated and punished. When we live by the truth, God’s words, there is the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and reassurance, peace, enjoyment in our hearts. We feel as if we lived in the light and lived before God. We truly feel only if one lives by the truth can he have the likeness of a real man, and that only living this way is valuable and meaningful. Were it not for God’s judgment coming upon us, we would not know God’s righteous and unoffendable disposition, hate our disobedience and corruption, nor cast off our corruption and get transformed. Through our practical experiences, we feel sincerely that God’s judgment and chastisement is the best protection and blessing for man.”

Sister Liu said, “Almighty God’s work of judgment and chastisement in the last days is the work that completely purifies, saves, and perfects man. If man doesn’t accept the judgment before Christ’s seat, he won’t be able to be purified and change his life disposition, and in the end he is surely to be abandoned and eliminated by God, thus perishing, being destroyed, and forever losing the opportunity to be saved by God and enter the kingdom of heaven. This is absolute.”

I said cheerfully, “Praise God! After hearing your fellowship, I feel brightened inside my heart. I’ve indeed lived in sin over these years of believing in the Lord, and had no strength to get rid of it anyway. Now, I understand that without experiencing God’s judgment and chastisement in the last days, man won’t be able to break free from the shackles and restraints of sin. I’ve seen the way to be cleansed and saved.” After fellowshiping for a couple of days, I understood more truth, and accepted Almighty God’s work of judgment and chastisement.

I thank Almighty God so much for His love and salvation to me. As a pastor, it is my duty and obligation to bring other pastors, brothers and sisters I know before God. After cooperating to preach the gospel for some time, I brought before Almighty God not only dozens of brothers and sisters who regularly attended the meetings in my own church, but also a pastor and all the brothers and sisters of another house church. Now, most of the brothers and sisters of the two churches have been raptured before God’s throne. I’m very happy. I know all the results are achieved by Almighty God’s work. May all the glory be to Almighty God!
