1.The Origin and Development of The Church of Almighty God

Let’s see the introduction to The Church of Almighty God on its gospel website: “The Church of Almighty God came into being because of the appearance and work of Almighty God—the returned Lord Jesus—Christ of the last days, and also under His righteous judgment and chastisement. The church is comprised of all those who truly accept Almighty God’s work of the last days and are conquered and saved by God’s word. It was entirely founded by Almighty God personally, and is personally led and shepherded by Him, and it was by no means set up by any man. This is a fact acknowledged by all the chosen people in The Church of Almighty God. … Because of the appearance and work of God incarnate, many true believers of the Lord in all religious denominations and sects have finally heard the voice of God, have seen that the Lord Jesus has already come and carried out the work of judgment in the last days, and they have all confirmed that Almighty God is the returned Lord Jesus and as a result, they have accepted His work of the last days. All those who are conquered by the word of Almighty God become subject to His name. Therefore, all the chosen people of The Church of Almighty God pray to Almighty God, and follow, obey and worship Him. Having experienced God’s work of judgment and chastisement, the chosen people in China have come to appreciate His righteous disposition, and have seen His majesty and wrath, and so they have been completely conquered by God’s word and have fallen down before Almighty God, and are willing to obey and accept the judgment and chastisement of God’s word. Thus, they have gained God’s salvation” (“The Origin and Development of The Church of Almighty God”).

From the introduction, we can see The Church of Almighty God is not a denomination in Christianity, but is produced from the appearance and work of Almighty God, Christ of the last days. And it is composed of those who are predestined and chosen by God and love the truth and pursue the truth. They are shepherded and led by God Himself and are possessed of the work of the Holy Spirit. They live the church life together, fellowship about God’s word, and experience God’s work. And from His word and work they see His wisdom and almightiness, understand His righteous disposition, and are conquered by the truth expressed by Him, thus becoming a group that follow God in the last days. This proves a prophecy in the Bible, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, said the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty” (Rev 1:8). From this it can be seen that The Church of Almighty God came into being as the result of the work of judgment beginning with the house of God done by Christ of the last days.

2.What Are Denominations? How Do They Arise?

We all know two thousand years ago, the churches during the early Age of Grace came into being as the result of the appearance and work of the Lord Jesus, God’s first incarnation. The Lord Jesus is the incarnate God, the Son of man, and Christ. When He came to work, He expressed His disposition of love and mercy, bestowed grace upon man, healed the sick and cast out demons, and taught man to be forbearing and patient, how to deal with others, and other ways suitable for the people of the Age of Grace to enter into life. Then all the disciples that followed the Lord Jesus abided by His teachings, prayed to His name, and spread His gospel, and thereby Christianity was produced from the appearance and work of the Lord Jesus. At first, there were no denominations in Christianity. At that time, believers abided by the Lord’s way and spread the gospel and gathered together in the Lord’s name, and thus they had the Lord’s grace as their companion. After the Lord Jesus resurrected and ascended to heaven, at Pentecost the Holy Spirit descended, and then all the Lord’s disciples, apostles and believers served and followed Him under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. But afterward, because man corrupted by Satan all had an arrogant nature, those who worked and preached studied the Bible based on their arrogant nature and interpreted the Bible out of context relying on the imaginations in their heads. Consequently, their understanding of the Bible was all different. Moreover, they thought their own understanding was the purest and came from the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit, so they held on to their own viewpoints and none of them willingly obeyed others. In the end, they created their own factions with their respective followers and went their own way. As a result, there have appeared more than two thousand different Christian denominations since the Lord Jesus Christ left.

3.The Church of Almighy God Isn’t a Denomination in Christianity.

Through the fellowship above, we can know: The churches are produced from God’s appearance and work. The churches of the Age of Grace came into being as the result of the appearance and work of the Lord Jesus. While The Church of Almighty God in the Age of Kingdom came into being as the result of the appearance and work of Almighty God, Christ of the last days. The Church of Almighty God testifies that the Lord Jesus has been incarnated among man for the second time, testifies to God’s salvation of man in the last days, and testifies that God’s will shall be carried out on earth. So The Church of Almighty God isn’t a denomination in Christianity and there is essential difference between them.
