1. The Lord has Predicted that the Son of man will come in the last days.
Many of the Lord’s brothers and sisters eagerly wait for the Lord to return and think that the Lord will come in the spiritual body after resurrection descending with the clouds. Because the Bible says, “Which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven” (Act 1:11). “Behold, he comes with clouds” (Rev 1:7). Most of people wait for the Lord to suddenly descend with clouds one day. For thousands of years, Christians have longed for it so.
But if you are one who knows the Bible well, you must know that the verses of the Lord’s return are hardly limited to just these verses. The Lord said: “Be you therefore ready also: for the Son of man comes at an hour when you think not” (Luk 12:40). “But of that day and hour knows no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Mat 24:36-37). “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be” (Mat 24:27). “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luk 17:24-25). The Lord Jesus mentioned “the Son of man comes” and “the coming of the son of man,” obviously, in order to tell us that He would return in the form of the Son of man in the last days. Then what, after all, is “the Son of man”? It isn’t hard to understand. The Son of man is born to a human, and has emotions of joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness, a normal home life and so on. Let’s think about it: The Lord Jesus is the Son of man, who was born to Mary and had brothers and sisters, a normal family and normal growth process. Besides possessing normal humanity, He has divine substance which we humans don’t possess, being able to express the truth, bestow upon man the way of repentance, resurrect the dead, perform many of signs and wonders and finally save the whole human from sins by being nailed to the cross for man. Those works were accomplished by God himself in ordinary and normal humanity. The Lord Jesus predicted many times that the Son of man would come in the last days. From this we can learn of the fact that when He returns in the last days, God should be like the Lord Jesus at that time, being born to a human, doing work in the fresh, because if it were the spiritual body, it wouldn’t be called the Son of man.
2. Only by becoming the Son of man in the last days can God suffer many things and be rejected of this generation.
The Lord Jesus said: “For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation” (Luk 17:24-25). These words of the Lord are greater proofs that He will return as the Son of man in the last days. If it were the spiritual body of the resurrected Lord, then He won’t suffer many things, and more so won’t be rejected of this generation, because the glorious spiritual body is too supernatural. The spirit can descend from the heaven, appear and disappear at will, and walk through walls: No matter in what time or place, it appears and disappears before you. No common person is capable of such feats. Not only is He able to perform signs and wonders, but anything He says will also immediately come true. If the Lord Jesus descends as a spiritual body in the last days, believers or unbelievers all will follow God. If so, how will these words of the Lord be fulfilled? And how will He be rejected by this generation? Only when He become the Son of man that can be seen and has normal humanity, will we dare to condemn and reject Christ relying on our conceptions and imagination. Just as when the Lord Jesus did work, the Pharisees and the Jews who followed them judged whether the Lord Jesus was Messiah or not only from His appearance, but not seeking His work and words, so they dared to abandon and resist Him at will, and even nailed Him to the cross. They committed a heinous crime, so that they were subjected to the punishment of God. Isn’t this a fact?
3. Only the Father knows the descent of the Son of man in the last days.
God will wear an ordinary and normal flesh in the last days like the Lord Jesus, and do His work and express words, leading human’s life. This fulfills the Lord’s predictions: “Behold, I come as a thief” (Rev 16:15). “Therefore be you also ready: for in such an hour as you think not the Son of man comes” (Mat 24:44). “But of that day and that hour knows no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father” (Mar 13:32). These scriptures mention “as a thief” and “But of that day and that hour knows no man.” Why did the Lord predict that He would come as a thief? We all know that a thief steals in a secret way and it is not easy to be found by people. If God comes as a spiritual body, we will see and know Him. If so, won’t “as a thief” and “But of that day and that hour knows no man” prophesied in the scripture come to nothing? In addition, only when God is incarnated as the Son of man in the last days, can the prophecy “the Son will not know” be fulfilled. Just as the Lord Jesus, before He performed His ministry, even He didn’t know about His identity as Christ who came to accomplish the work of redemption; not until He started to perform His ministry did He know His identity. Because, when God becomes flesh, becoming an average, normal person, the Spirit of God is hidden in the flesh, the flesh is unaware of the Spirit’s presence. Just as we are unable to feel the spirit within us. If the Spirit of God doesn’t utter words to testify to God Himself, He couldn’t know that He Himself is the incarnate God.
4. The Lord will come secretly first, and then appear publicly.
Some people wonder perhaps if God appears as the incarnate image, how will the prophecies of the Lord’s public descent with the clouds in the Bible be fulfilled? It is easy to understand in combination with above fellowship. First, the Lord will become the flesh and secretly come among man as a thief to do the work of judging and purifying God’s chosen people. When a group of overcomers are perfected, the great disasters will come, and God will start to reward good and punish evil. Then God will publicly descend with clouds. At that time, the prophecies of the Lord’s public descent will be fulfilled, just as is said in the Bible: “Behold, he comes with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen” (Rev 1:7). At that time, all those who refuse to accept God’s hidden work will completely lose the opportunity of salvation. Those who pierced Him will see that the incarnate God who they have resisted and condemned is the return of the Lord Jesus. How could they not weep and gnash their teeth and beat their chests? So, then the scene of all kindreds of the earth wailing will appear.
As to the Lord’s return, only God himself can reveal the mystery of the descent of the Son of man, because God’s thoughts are higher than man’s thoughts. Just as the Bible says: “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isa 55:8-9). So, in waiting for the Lord’s return, we must first welcome the descent of the Son of man, only in this way can we keep up with God’s work and obtain God’s salvation.
